Jazz Journal: Dec 1996
This CD served as my introduction to the talents of saxist-arranger-composer Dick Walter, and a very impressive introduction it proved to be. Each track is a Walter original, and they span a two-decade period, during which modern big band jazz has been at a premium, to say the least. As a jazz composer Dick Walter can stand alongside such worthies as Gerry Mulligan, Bill Russo, Francy Boland, Bob Florence and Bill Holman.
All modern big band fans should rush out and buy this disc.
